athryn Smith received a warm welcome
from staff and residents when she became the new Assistant
Administrator of Patriots Colony in charge of Healthcare Services in early September. Her
former position as Assistant Administrator in the Norfolk Healthcare
Center coupled with a B.A. in Healthcare Administration from Mary
Baldwin College has given Kathryn a solid foundation in her approach to
wellness and long-term care.
Kathryn’s Goals
Among her many goals in shaping Patriots
Colony’s long-term care, Kathryn is presently working on
revamping the activities scheduling to better accommodate residents.
“We’ll be incorporating more evening programs, and
redistributing staff hours. Residents will have a higher possibility of
participating,” commented Kathryn. She will also be addressing
transitional issues for independent living residents.
Open Door Policy
Kathryn prides herself in being an approachable
Assistant Administrator. “My primary goals are to listen to and
meet the needs of our residents,” said Kathryn, who looks forward
to meeting personally with residents and family members. If you have
