What is that delightful smell you inhale when you enter the lobby of the Cannon Community Center? No, it's not a plate of cookies, though you might wish it was. It's Chef Erik Czarnatowicz's ginger bread house emanating the heavenly odor. "I used the standard ginger bread recipe, with a bit more cinnamon and nutmeg," said Chef Erik. And he absolutely will not give out any more trade secrets than this.
It took about three weeks to complete the construction of this ginger bread house, and 14 others dispersed throughout the campus. "We used candy canes and chocolates with shiny foil to make it more ornamental," commented Chef Erik.
Residents and staff love the ginger bread house, and many have expressed their appreciation to Chef Erik for constructing this delicacy. "There's a lot of royal icing, flour, and love and care by the kitchen staff that went into it," remarked Chef Erik, so obviously proud of his fleeting creation.
This house, and other ginger bread dwellings, are on display until January 2nd.
