n June,
Wally and Beth Scherer left the crowded conditions of Northern
Virginia, where they lived for 26 years, to begin their new lives
at Patriots Colony in Williamsburg. Wally was convinced
a Greenspring Home was the right size for them. “We
certainly did not want to go from a four level split home to a
townhouse or apartment,” he said. “This house
is a rambler. We opted not to have the finished upstairs
because we prefer one level,” Wally commented.

One added option the
Scherers are delighted with is the enclosed sunroom. It
makes a pleasant television/ newspaper room for the couple.
The couple’s
decision to relocate to Patriots Colony grew out of a commitment
to move only once for their retirement. “We did not
want to have an interim move,” said Wally. Many of
their friends and associates had moved to houses in the country,
and had to move again when they needed care. “We agree
with the concept of a continuing care community from the examples
of friends and families,” added Wally.
