Pete We have lived in many different climates over the years of my being in the military, from Texas to the Philippines, California to Illinois, Vietnam to Washington, DC. We wanted two things when we decided to retire: We wanted the temperate climate of the mid-Atlantic or South, and we wanted to be among people with similar backgrounds.

Kathy Well, we wanted more than that! We wanted to be close to our kids who are in Northern Virginia -- but we didn't want to be in Northern Virginia. And in looking around at our retirement options, we didn't consider anything other than a Life Care Retirement Community, as much for each other's benefit as for our kids'. No worries.

Pete Of course, the excellent reputation and recommendations of Riverside and its connection with Patriots Colony as sponsor stood out to us. The clincher was how good the golfing was! So we came for a visit and decided Patriots Colony was indeed what we had been searching for. It met all our requirements, and I was able to hit the links as a new resident here.

Kathy Once we knew we would be coming to this community, it was difficult to decide whether to move into a villa or an apartment. We liked the many floor plan choices each offered. We ended up choosing an apartment with a beautiful balcony, and we have been so pleased with our decision.

Pete And it has been no adjustment living in it, either. It's been just great.

Kathy The Williamsburg area has so much to offer by way of culture and activities. But then so does Patriots Colony. For example, I have always enjoyed water aerobics and was pleased to pick right up with it from the moment we moved in.

I'll add that the golf here in Williamsburg turned out to be great!
